Analytics Engineering Advocate

HCMC, Vietnam (onsite) or SEA (remote)

Introduction

Holistics is a cloud-based Business Intelligence tool. We help data teams build a trusted, supervised self-service analytics experience for their business stakeholders. With Holistics, data teams free themselves up from low-level ad-hoc data requests, while business stakeholders get their data quickly and reliably without depending on others.

We're looking for an Analytics Engineering Advocate to teach and educate our users to get more value from Holistics. This position is suitable if you’re an analytics engineer/BI professional who enjoys helping and educating people to build better BI systems.

This is a full-time position based in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) with a hybrid WFO/WFH setup. Remote positions are also available for candidates based in Singapore or within Southeast Asia time zones.

What you will do

This is a polyglot position, you’ll be at the intersection of Technical Content Marketing, Technical Sales and Analytics Engineering.

On a typical day, you will spend time identifying common, practical use cases in Holistics.  This could be done in a few ways:

  • Talk to Sales or watch sales recordings to learn what questions customers have
  • Talk to Product about upcoming features and possible use cases that open up
  • Spend time studying competitive products to understand how they’re compared to us

Based on those identified use cases, you’ll develop technical content to teach our users. This could mean preparing demo projects, writing tutorials/documentation, or recording instruction videos.

Occasionally, when our customers/prospects have a difficult BI problem, you’ll work alongside Sales/CS to support them.

When you’re ready to take it up a notch, you can also host video webinars, speak at data meetups, or engage with the data community in both online and offline capacities.

As part of the role, you also get to do data modeling & BI for Holistics, working along our small internal data team (our stack is Holistics, Airflow, dbt, Snowplow, and BigQuery btw). This way, you won’t ever feel out of practice.

If you do your job well, everyone is happy: Sales close deals faster, Product is happy to see their features utilized well, and Marketing is happy with the inbound prospects coming from your content. You’ll hear things like these from our customers:

  • “Wow, Holistics is awesome, I didn’t know their metrics query language is that powerful.”
  • “That Holistics tutorial describes ways to solve my problem perfectly.”
  • “That [tutorial video] gave me a very good idea of how Holistics works.”

These are just examples but should give you some ideas! We’ll work together to come up with the exact projects that should be most effective for our shared goals.

Requirements — You'll be a good fit if

You might be a fit for this role if you have:

  • Experience with SQL, BI, and Analytics Engineering: You use tools like Looker, dbt, Tableau, or PowerBI on a daily basis. You should be comfortable writing SQL, Markdown, and Git commands. In previous life, people refer to you as Analytics Engineer, Data Analyst, or BI Engineer.
  • Love for writing & teaching: You enjoy explaining/teaching people about different analytics use cases. You’re good at breaking down complicated concepts into simple, digestible content.
  • Customer-oriented mindset: When a customer faces a technical problem, you’re eager to get on a video call to help them troubleshoot the situation.
  • Skills: Strong written communication and business problem-solving.

Evaluation Process

  • Round 1: A chat with the team (Short chat to introduce Holistics, our product, and discuss to understand your skills, experiences & past projects).
  • Round 2: Do a take-home assignment to assess your skills and experience.
